Blogs I’m Currently Enjoying.

31 05 2007

I’d like to share a few blogs I’ve been enjoying, some you may have already stumbled upon (especially if you are on WordPress)? But all the same, please take a click and enjoy. . . .

Passive-Aggressive Notes from Roommates, Neighbors, CoWorkers and Strangers

for the purposes of this project, we?re using a pretty broad (and to some extent, arbitrary) definition of ?passive-aggressive? that roughly correlates with how the term is popularly used. (most people don?t go diving for the dsm IV when someone describes his or her roommate as ?so passive-aggressive? ? or ?so antisocial? or ?so sadistic? or ?so schizo,? for that matter.)

some of the notes here are really more aggressive in tone, and some of them are more passive ? polite, even ? but they all share a common sense of frustration that?s been channeled into a written note rather than a direct confrontation. while it may be more accurate, ?asshole-ish notes from roommates, neighbors, coworkers and strangers? (or ?well-deserved notes from roommates??) just doesn?t roll off the tongue quite as easily, you know?

Who The Heck Keeps Google-ing Me?

9 05 2007

The past few days I’ve got a huge number of hits from people searching ‘me’ and Colin.

Now I’ve never hidden ‘my identity’ with my blog, but all the same - who the heck are all these lurkers??

You know who I am, who the heck are you? :)

Technical Difficulties turns into WOOHOOO For WordPress! :)

1 05 2007

******UPDATE*******

Mark at Wordpress has already replied to my email (LESS than ten hours after I sent it!!)

The problem seems to have been fixed, and I haven’t lost any of my stats.

WOO HOO for WORDPRESS!!!!   WordPress ROCKS!

 Thank you again, Mark!

Wordpress is giving me issues. So please bear with me.  I might be in and out for the next few days until the Fine people at Wordpress get back to me.

My dashboard is telling me my Blog doesn’t exsist.

I’m here, I’m writing, I can find it on Goggle, your here reading this . . .so it does in fact exsist.

All of my stats, and many of my comments are gone.  :(
I wonder if there is a way to retrieve them?

Monday Melee (April 9th 2007)

9 04 2007

Monday Melee

A Fracas Project! You’re invited to participate. Get details and see the participant list here.

————————————————————–

The Monday Melee Questions:

1. The Misanthtropic: Name something (about humanity) you absolutely hate.

People’s ability to forget why the heck we actually celebrate holidays.  Easter and Christmas are the most notable examples.

At least Jesus is the forgiving type.

————————————————
2. The Meretricious: Expose something or someone that’s phony, fraudulent or bogus.

Ebay shipping costs.   I am appaled by some seller’s shipping costs.  The shipping costs have turned me off a whole wack of auctions.

Colin has recently purchased a bunch of childhood GI Joe action figures (to be blogged about another day!) and one of the boxes he purchased had 6 figures (remember these are like 4 inches tall) 20 pieces of stirofoam peanuts and a tattered box, for $26 USD in shipping.  And that was with the multiple item shipping discount!

Not good sellers ethics.

As a consumer of Ebay, please make sure you are aware of the shipping costs BEFORE you bid.  Espeically if its overseas/over borders.

————————————————
3. The Malcontent: Name something you’re unhappy with.

My dishwasher.  Its old, and pretty much broken.  I just can’t afford to buy a new one quite yet.

————————————————
4. The Meritorious: Give someone credit for something and name it if you can.

Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook.  I have been able to reconnect with people I never thought I’d ever speak to again.  I’ve been enjoying very much rekindling friendships, and catching up with old aquaintances. . .  . .

Also, my sister in law for going out and getting work in her new surroundings, for not sitting back and letting the new life changes effect her negativily (she moved far from family/friends, and her brother is moving over seas)

————————————————
5. The Mirror: See something good about yourself and name it.

I am generous with others, even when I can’t afford to be.

————————————————
6. The Make-Believe: Name something you wish for.

A Money Tree (small non-sequencial bills of course, and no rolled coins.)

Going Strong Since Sept 26th 2006

31 01 2007

Well, I went back to check all my old entries.  And I have blogged at least once a day, everyday, since September 26th 2006.

This either means I am a dedicated blogger or sad.  I’d like to think the former rather than the latter. . . . :)
Either way, I’m going keep on bloggin’ can’t get rid of me that easily!

Blog Blotter

29 01 2007

I have this little notebook I carry in my purse, I call it my Blog Blotter. . . .

When an idea for a topic hits me, I write it down.  I’d hate to forget my ideas.

Its gently perched on my bedside table at night.  There are studies that show if you write your ideas down that you have during the night, you can relax and have a more restful sleep.

So for those of you that wonder how I ended up with such a random blog, there it is.  Its methodical in the sense that it is chronological in how the ideas came to be, and that might be the only bit of straight sense out of this whole mess.

Either way, I have fun blogging - and am glad when people stop by for a visit. (perhaps leave me a comment next time you drop by)

Trying Something New. . . . Not Sure. . .

15 01 2007

So I decided to change my Blog theme. I’ve passed over the presentation tab several times, eyeing the various colours and weighting each different choice.

Today in a bold move I decided to try one on for size. What do you think?

I’m not sold (yet). Not because its not a lovely theme, it is, I’m just feeling uneasy about change. . . .I am (and I’m sure my readers - all 4 of you) used to my usual theme.

Perhaps if I can get over my uneasiness of this small change, perhaps I might even be inclined to try creating my own theme.

Whooooa! Baby steps. . . .breath in, breath out. . . .

EDIT ::: Jan 15th 11:22pm

I’ve changed again.   I’m still not sure.  I’m going to sleep on this one.  Perhaps a fresh day and new perspective. . . . .

The Usual:

rounded

The First New:

Sunburn

 The Second New:

silver new black

Any other suggestions to new themes. . . . . .
