So we asked Chris Coburn to watch the cats while we are back in Ontario this weekend.
Colin might have forgotten to tell him about Manny. . . . . .I hope he feeds him!
I think the three bowls might give it away though . . . . .
So we are heading back to Ontario on Friday night.
Saturday we have the wedding, but before the 1pm wedding we have to have the plaques engraved, and I need a pair of stockings, and I’d like a hat and a pashmina to wear. . . I wonder if we will have time? Plus I’ll still need to go to my Mom’s so my sister can do my hair.
Sunday we are going to Brunch with Paul and Kate in Oakville, we are going to Kate’s favourite restaurant ‘Stoney’s’
Monday is Colin’s day of rest. I’m trying to convince him to build another ‘cat gym’ - we’ll see how that goes. I’m going to spend some time with Christine, working on our Garter project. We’ll need to go have a meal at my folks house too.
Tuesday at 1pm is Gramma Briggs’ funeral in Sutton. From there we are heading back to Montreal.
Its going to be a long one. . . . .
For anyone who has visited Milton Ontario they know of Delacourts. A tiny quaint little fine china gift store in the very heart of Milton.
The store is located at the corner of Main Street and Martin Street, right by the Mill Pond. Its located in a tall grey and white stone face building. Probably one of the most beautiful buildings in town.
Its been a long-time Milton tradition that for any Miltonian that gets married they regsiter at Delacourts. The week before your wedding they put a big sign in the window with your names.
Its a great little store and the staff are bar-none the most knowledgeable out there.
They will take the time to help you match flatware, china ware and stemware to your tastes, as well as finding an everyday casual china that matches your fine china. . .
But the best things about this store are that they will price match any advertised price, they also giftwrap and do free local delivery! Delacourts will order in anything they don’t have in stock (and will always price match) and they will also call the other stores you are regsitered at and update any items that are bought at Delacourts for you. . . . .
A great local business. . . . .A1 Service. . . . .Great Selection . . . .
If you are ever in Milton:

oh, the reason for this Blog entry. . . . We need to convince Kate to regsiter at Delacourts, marrying a Milton boy - its only right. Its tradition and all. Help us get Kate on the Delacourts bandwagon!

Again affflicted with the Blog reading virus (while at work) I came across the below mini-article (originally posted on Cruel.com ). . . . .
Bloggers are going to hell one entry at a time, according to Kevin D. Denee of the Restored Church of God’s Ambassador Youth magazine:
Should teenagers and others in the Church express themselves to the world through blogs? Because of the obvious dangers; the clear biblical principles that apply; the fact that it gives one a voice; that it is almost always idle words; that teens often do not think before they do; that it is acting out of boredom; and it is filled with appearances of evil — blogging is simply not to be done in the Church. It should be clear that it is unnecessary and in fact dangerous on many levels.
Let me emphasize that no one — including adults — should have a blog or personal website (unless it is for legitimate business purposes).
Photo sharing is acceptable to the Restored Lord in some circumstances:
Some questions naturally arise: “Can I have a photo gallery?” For example, maybe you visited an exotic country and want to share your photos with close friends. This can be done, but certain guidelines apply. Of course, there should never be any inappropriate pictures (again, be careful of the appearance of evil); it should be private and password protected, and only shown to family and closest friends.
I’m in amazement of this statement. I feel almost guilty at this moment continuing my thought process about God (or Kevin D. Denee of the Restored Church of God’s Ambassador Youth magazine as it were) hating blogs in my blog.
I can see the value of not posting all your lifes inner workings or posting every single of the 625 personal vacation photos you took. . . .but the idea of God hating communication stumps me.. . .
I find Blogs a welcome change, a simple tidbit of daily life about someone you care about, love or are facinated by. I mean come on, how many of us really like getting great Aunt Gertrude’s 16 page Christmas letter about shuffleboard and gardening?
On a lighter note: I came across the following blog, that I have been enjoying for a few weeks now: WHAT WOULD JESUS BLOG Its a sightly satirical look at very common current issues and subjects. . .the author, Jesus, puts it in ‘today and now’ wording. A worthwhile read.
Last night Colin’s maternal grandmother “Gramma Briggs” passed away, after suffering a stroke about a week ago.
She had a full life, and spent it doing God’s work. She always surrounded herself with family, and I believe she took comfort in that company especially when the effects of the advanced alzheimer’s started. . . .
I know she is comfortable, content, happy and satified now. . . .
. . . . I never got to know Gramma Briggs before the Alzheimer’s. . . . I wish I had had the chace to know the woman she really was. . . .
She was Colin’s last remaining Grandparent.
Hello Paul and Kate, and Colin and Joycelyn, my dear ones,
It’s to late to phone you tonight, but wanted you to know that Gramma Briggs passed away tonight. The funeral will probably be on Tuesday, and at the Tayler funeral home in Sutton. Could you all can get time off work to be with us at the funeral? Dorothy seems to think we have to wait until Tuesday so our brother Dave can get here from Calgary.
Dad and I are driving up to Sutton tomorrow to help Dorothy make arrangements. We’ll talk to you on the week-end.
Lots of love and prayers. Mom and Dad

I shall always remember my dear Mom by the most beautiful word in the world… LOVE. In fact, the first Bible verse she ever taught us was “God Is Love”.
Perhaps the first memory of my Mom occurred when I was very small, in the busy kitchen of the farm-house on the 5th Line where we were all born and raised. By this time there were 7 or 8 children in our family, and we were all crowding around Mom nursing a new baby. I can remember asking her why we had such a large family, as none of our immediate neighbours had so many children. For the answer, my Mom just encircled us all with her arms, and said: “Daddy and I just love you all.” My Mom and Dad totally dedicated their lives to raising us children in a healthy and stimulating environment. They worked as a good team to provide us with all our needs… spiritually, emotionally, physically.
My Mom truly was a Great Woman. Like the Great Woman of Shunem, she loved the things of the Lord. She was always prepared to serve the Lord’s people. Mom was a wonderful home-maker and orderly house-keeper. She was a very accomplished cook and baker. As a large family, we all had our duties and chores. She wisely worked alongside us and taught us many valuable life skills. One outstanding characteristic of Mom was being thankful for everything. Every single day of her life, in all sorts of situations, she would express her thankfulness. I know she was on her knees in prayer every morning and evening, thanking the Lord for His Goodness and mercy.and petitioning Him for each of us kids.
“Trust in the Lord.” That was Mom’s life-line. She loved her Bible, and taught us all she could by precept and line. She lived her Faith, and read the Word of God daily with us. Truly she gave us a firm foundation for our faith in God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Yes, she gave us a goodly heritage. She helped and encouraged us to memorize many passages of Scripture. This has come back to bless me in many wonderful ways.
Mom loved beautiful things. She enjoyed her flowers. She revelled in the natural beauty of our ‘home and native land’, Canada. The serene national parks with their mountains and lakes, birds and animals, meadows and forests enchanted her with pure delight in God’s handiwork. She set a proper dinner table each evening, and presented hearty meals that were appealing to the eye . She always dressed us as smartly as possible. Even the patches on the knees of my brothers’ pants were neatly stitched. Laundry was an art with my Mom. Clothes were pegged on the line in pleasing colour gradations, proceeding from light to dark. Mom loved books and music. We were always surrounded with good books and good conversation about literature. Most of all, Mom loved music. Her one regret was that she hadn’t had the opportunity to learn to play the piano very well. In fact, even up to 3 years ago, she would sometimes sit down at the piano and try to pick out a hymn. However, she made sure we all had the opportunity to take music lessons. This is a gift for which we will all be ever thankful.
These are some of the precious memories that I have of our Mom, at whose knee I first learned the meaning of that beautiful word, LOVE.
Tim Horton’s has a new breakfast sandwich, cleverly called “The Breakfast Sandwich” in English Canada, and “Timatin” in Quebec. . . .
Its so good. I’ve been stopping in the morning to get myself one.
warm eggs and sausage on a fresh homestyle biscuit. Yummy.
Yesterday after almost a week of “scent distrubution”* and room seperation we decided to see how the cat crew got along.
We were pleasently surprised that we did not have any all out cat brawls. .
One thing we were not expecting . . .the half pound micro-cat chasing and ‘pwning’ Marty! He bounded, chased and arched his back at the current resident male cat of our household. . . .
Minou seemed fine with the mini-invader, after soom serious ass-sniffing.
We have opted to keep the kitten seperated while we are not home for the next couple of days, and by this time next week, they will all be running free. . . .
I’m glad I had the patience to introduce them correctly.
* Scent distrubution is a way to transfer one cat’s smell to the other so they become familar, we did this by rubbing an old sock on one cat, and rubbing it on Manny and Vice-Versa. . . . .
My brother in law Paul and his lovely now-fiancee Kate have decided on February 24th to celebrate their wedding.
I have my hair appointment set, and my backup clothing plan set. Just need the manacure appointment, a couple tanning sessions and the first-string dress and I’m set!
now. . .what to get the happy couple!?!?!
If you are planning on getting something for Kate and Paul to commemerate their nuptuials they are registered at:
During one of the 4 hours chat-a-thons that Christine Hann and I have, we hatched this idea that stemed from a small gift I had given her for Christmas just before her wedding in Feb 2005.
Christine was getting married, I wanted to give her something to wear from me because I was living in England and couldn’t be a part of the wedding or the preparations. I bought an ‘antique English lace’ garter, its lovely, frilly and a small blue ribbon is laced in the middle. . . . .something new, something blue.
Since Christine’s wedding, her now sister in law Jessica has worn it, as well as one of our mutual friends Elizabeth (who wore it in June this year), and this coming weekend, October 21 2006, another one of our friends Michelle is using it when she marries Anthony . . . . . .
We we laughing that its starting to become a tradition - and then we though it might be fun to MAKE it a tradition, and have a ‘Garter Sisterhood’ or something similar, adopting a notebook – where each girl who wears it updates the notebook with their name and a picture and passes it on. . . .
In todays day and age where marriages are disposible, hopefully this will help keep the fairy tale alive. . . .It can be a history of weddings, love and friendships. Christine and I are excited to put together the book. . . .If you know any Brides. . . . let us know, we’d love to see how far we can make this go. . . . .
I’ve asked Kate, my future sister in law if she wants to wear it. . . .I’m awaiting her reply. . . .
****UPDATE**** Spoke to Kate on the phone last night (Wednesday 18th October) and she said she’d love to use it, and she can even think of some new people to pass it onto. . . . .. . . .yeah. . . .The tradition has started!
Its been 3 days of none-stop pissing down rain.
Summer has ended in lieu of the dead and decomposing season of autumn.
It smells rank outside. like wet dog and worms.
The colour changes of the leaves this year weren’t as spectatular as I remembered them being . I wish I was 10 again when I was in complete awe of the world!
